About Blacktown City Photographic Club

Blacktown City Photographic Club promotes Photography in the community by running competitions, lectures, outings and workshops. We have a diverse membership with some who are only just learning, to some who have many years experience, and many in between! This is a great environment for learning and it doesn't matter how long you have been into photography there is always something to learn.

Our competitions (above) are friendly and aimed at improving and developing members' work.

We also run lectures with guest speakers, on varying topics (see our program). Our meeting hall is large so it is perfect for workshop nights (see "outings" page), where everyone can be active and our many outings (see pic at right) are great for beginners to learn what to look for and "how to do it".

A lot of our club members are long term members, and many friendships have been built over the years, through the mutual interest in photography.
Most importantly our club always welcomes new members & visitors, so if you would like to meet us please come along to one of our nights and we will make sure you are welcomed.

Max Johnson Display

The Max Johnson Display, above, another evening arranged to inspire and educate our members was enjoyed by all that attended.

The Blacktown City Photographic Club is a member of the Federation of Camera Clubs (FCC). Russell Kirkland, our Competition Secretary and long time member, was recently honoured for 30 years of service to the FCC. Russell has been a member of the Henry Lawson Camera Club for some 30 years (president for 18 of them) and has also been a member of the Springwood club for 27 years. The event was reported by The Blacktown Advocate and the article can be seen . Well done Russell.

We meet every 1st, 3rd & 5th Wednesday of each month, at Doonside Neighbourhood Centre, 23 Birdwood Ave, Doonside, meetings start at about 7:30 pm. So if you are interested in finding out more about the club just turn up at a meeting and say hello. Our meetings are pretty relaxed, there is a bit of informal chatter before the meeting kicks off so it's a great time to introduce yourself. If you like what we are doing and decide to join us on a long term basis our membership fees are a modest $30 per annum, with a $5 joining fee.

Please feel free to contact us for more information on the club.
