Set Subjects for 2006

Red              15th March 2006
How do you describe RED - is it a colour- is it a concept. This is our creative subject for this year. Colour users should have no trouble, but I am really looking forward to the B&W entries. Just remember infrared means below red (not red) and cannot be used without some other way of describing the red subject.

Hands & Feet              17th May 2006
Our portrait subject this year is concentrating on just hands and feet. This of course can be just hands or just feet or a combination of both, but please do not include the body unless it is to improve the story told by the hands and feet

Machinery              19th July 2006
Bright chrome machine parts - dirty oily engine parts - it all comes under machinery. They can be found in the fields, parks and museums. They can be found at work or at home. They can be found anywhere.

Texture              20th September 2006
Texture is all about us. In the bark of a tree, in the weave of material. Show us how to show this texture in a two dimensional format to bring it to life.

Spring              15th November 2006
By popular request. Spring is a time when our gardens are bursting with colour. It is a time when baby animals abound in the fields. It's time to get out of the house and shake off the winter blues and go take photos of the wonderful time of year and show us the results here.

Set Subjects for 2005

Religious              16th February 2005
Visit your local church, temple or mosque. Show Budhists begging or moslem prayer mats. Join a baptism by the river or take a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Just photograph it.

Portrait              20th April 2005
The dictionary I read described a portrait as a picture of a person or people – mainly of the face. We accept portraits of animals as well as people. Also remember how one judge early in 2004 described a photo of a car as a portrait. If you listen to him it opens up a wide range of options.

Creative              15th June 2005
Hide yourself in the darkroom, dust off the computer or just get out a pair of scissors and show us what you can do when your creative juices go wild. Our only stipulation is that it must have major photographic content

Music              17th August 2005
Bands playing in pubs, Marching bands marching. Musical instuments on show in the shops, sheet music blowing in the wind. Dancing in the dark may be hard to photograph - but try to do it anyway..

Autmn Colours              19th October 2005
Although Sydney does not put on the wonderful Autumn displays of Europe and north America, when April arrives the world starts changing. Take a trip to the Blue Mountains or the Southern Highlands to see the displays in the formal gardens, or just look around you to see the brilliant red leaves on the small tree just outside the office or the yellow in that little bush in the corner of next doors yard.
