The Battle of Vinegar Hill The club has been commissioned to hold an exhibition of prints taken by members at the re-enactment of the Battle of Vinegar Hill. Those who took photos please see a member of the committee. New Web Site As quite a few of our members have seen over the last few weeks we are in the process of putting together a new web site as our current one is well and truly out of date. Please let me know if you have any photos we can use. I can scan photos – not negatives. When we have had a few more contributions the site can go live and I will let you know the new address. Train Trip on the 3801 Anyone interested in going on a train trip to the Old English Fayre at Exeter on the 20th November 2004 please talk to Bill, John Harrison or Jen and let them know if you are interested. We have to know numbers as soon as possible to book the tickets. Cost $100 or if we get the numbers we may get a discount. Prints and Slide of the Year Start getting together your entries for Print and Slides of the Year - they need to handed in by the last meeting in November. September Peoples Choice Awards Lawrence Gatt September Top Scorers Slides Nic Peters B&W Kevin Pritchard Colour Lawrence Gatt Next Set Subject Street Photography What is happening out there on the streets? Show us what is happening in the street, in cafes. Show us life on the promenade. Show us the traffic - show us the people - show us what is going on. Bring your photos in by the 3rd Nov ready for the competition on the 17th. Christmas Raffle Our Christmas Raffle is now in full swing. Our major prize is a Sanyo 4 megapixel Digital Camera valued at $600 – tickets are $2 each. The prize will be drawn at the Christmas Party on 5/12/2004 and will make a fantastic present – if you can bear to part with it. This Months Tip If you are photographing in the city, choosing the right day to photograph can make all of the difference. During long periods of clear weather, the sky will often be made hazy and grey due to smog. The morning just after a rainstorm will often have the clearest air and will show you the best colours. Things I Have Learnt This Month When your camera is stolen, your best pictures are always in it. Workshops Workshops are running fortnightly on the odd weeks to club meetings, on a Tuesday night, at the showground For more information see Bill Apologies Because of holiday commitments, there will be no newsletter for November. The next one will be available at the Xmas Party - Jen |
