Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese, holistic therapy. It is a gentle form of drug free healing with its own unique system of diagnosis and disease identification.Over 2,000 years ago, Chinese medical writings described the acupuncture channels which transport energy around and through the body. This energy is termed qi (pronounced "chee") Qi is said to be influenced in specific ways at special locations, known as acupuncture points, which lie along these channels.
Traditional acupuncturists believe that gentle stimulation of precise acupuncture points when applied on the basis of correct diagnosis, will aid the body's own defensive and self healing systems, thus promoting and maintaining good health.
The acupuncturist can stimulate acupuncture points by several methods, heat (Moxibustion), magnets, laser or fine disposable acupuncture needles.
The aim of this clinic is to treat the patient as a whole. Christine can treat specific disorders and long term problems. The objective is to provide relief of symptoms and reduce the condition. She will however also look at you as a whole, looking for the cause of the illness, try to correct the underlying problem, and thereby assist in the restoration of health. Ongoing maintenance treatment is an effective form of preventative medicine recommended on the change of the seasons. Acupuncture has the ability to detect and treat energy imbalances before they lead to disease.Since many illnesses are the result of imbalances, almost any illness can be helped, as long as the degenerative process in the tissues of the body are not too advanced. However please be assured that your health is the highest consideration, and referral to other medical services will be suggested without hesitation if in the best interests of the patient.
